The Queen Marie-Henriette Children’s Home was founded in 1863 as a nursery on Rue de la Flèche in Brussels to care for the children of working women in downtown Brussels.
This daycare center will soon benefit from the patronage of Queen Marie-Henriette.
Today, the association aims to welcome and/or support children referred by the Youth Welfare Service, the Youth Protection Service, or the Youth Court because their physical and/or psychological well-being is threatened by significant parental, family, social, or economic difficulties.
The primary focus remains on the well-being of the children. Working methods are constantly evolving regarding the latest educational approaches, in order to meet the needs of the families.
In April 2026, Mathieu de Lophem participated in the Marathon des Sables, a 270 kilometers race in the Moroccan desert, to raise a minimum of € 27,000, or € 100 per kilometer covered.
This money was intended to allow children to go on a week’s vacation.
The Order of Saint Gabriel Benelux decided to support this initiative and sponsored La Flèche.
